ViviCell Privacy Policy

Short version: ViviCell does not collect any data. Everything you do in the app — your lessons, review progress, quiz answers, and study settings — stays on your iPhone. There are no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking of any kind.

What stays on your device

ViviCell stores your study progress locally on your iPhone, inside the app's private sandbox. The app uses two on-device storage mechanisms provided by Apple:

SwiftData (structured study progress)

LessonProgress — which lessons you've completed.
ReviewProgress — spaced-repetition due dates, grades, and ease factors for the material you're studying.
QuizAttempt — your exact quiz responses and completion state.
UserStudyStats — aggregate study statistics.
QuizConfiguration — your quiz preferences.
MorphologyMastery — per-category accuracy and mastery level.
ConfusionPair — how often you confuse one cell type with another, used to focus your review.

UserDefaults (simple preferences)

Appearance and theme preferences.
Whether you've completed the introduction.
Your selected tab.
Your last-opened module.
Study-reminder settings.

None of this information ever leaves your device. Uninstalling ViviCell permanently deletes all of it — there is no backup on our side, because there is no "our side."

iCloud Backup: If you have iCloud Backup enabled, Apple may back up your app's local data as part of your device backup. This backup is encrypted by Apple, and we have no access to it — we cannot read, restore, or use it. It exists solely so you can restore your device if you replace or reset it.

What leaves your device

Nothing — unless you tap an external link, such as this privacy policy page itself. Tapping such a link opens it in your web browser, which is standard browser behavior. No data from ViviCell is sent to us or to anyone else when you do this.

What we do not collect

ViviCell does not collect any of the following categories of data. This list mirrors Apple's App Store privacy nutrition label, where every category below is marked "No" for ViviCell:

ViviCell does not collect any of these categories, from anyone, for any purpose.

Third-party services

ViviCell contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, authentication, or social-login SDKs. The app uses only Apple's built-in frameworks:

SwiftUI — the user interface.
SwiftData — on-device storage of your study progress.
Foundation — core system services.
UserNotifications — local study-reminder notifications only. These are scheduled on your device and never involve push notifications or Apple Push Notification service (APNs).

No third-party code runs inside ViviCell, and no third party receives any data.

Children's privacy

ViviCell is rated 4+ and may be used by children. Because the app collects no data from anyone — adults or children — there is nothing to protect or disclose with respect to children's privacy. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, of any age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and post the new version at this same URL. Because ViviCell has no data collection, any future change would only add clarity, not new data practices.
